The matrix-in-matrix system here was composed of an outer Tofflemire-type retainer (Omnimatrix, Ultradent) and an inner anatomically-contoured matrix band (Dead Soft band, Garrison Dental Solutions) in order to reconstruct the distal free-end axial wall in an efficient and accurate manner.
