(Afternoon tea pics 1646.1: Aquacare Protocol with and without calcium phosphosilicate)
1) Typically, 29 micron aluminum oxide is applied with a water solution containing 17.5% ethanol.
2) For a selective etch mode, application of Sylc (calcium phosphosilicate) allows occlusion of open dentinal tubules and provides another substrate for the 10-MDP in self-etching adhesive monomers to nanolayer with, creating a better bonded surface (did you think you were bonding to open tubules before?)
Sylc will not work for a total etch approach as the application of phosphoric acid onto Sylc dissolves the mineral phase.
