Continuing the clinical logic of replacing/bolstering cervical dentin in root-treated teeth with a high fracture toughness composite resin (GC Ever-X Flowable, dentin shade) as direct posts placed adhesively in a ferrule or ferruleless situation led to catastrophic root fractures 100% of the time (Magne, Carvalho).

GC Ever-X Flow boasts a fracture toughness of 2.88MPa/m(exp)0.5 when compared to regular composite at 1.51MPa/m(exp)0.5 and is greater than dentin and Ever-X Posterior which are around the 2.61MPa/m(exp)0.5 mark.  This should absorb more axial and oblique forces rendering any fracture if it eventuates into hopefully a restorable one.  The access penetration was 5mm into the canal from the cavosurface margin and the GP base was “just visible” for predictable incremental application of Ever-X Flow
2 month gap between Stage 1/2 and 3 shows excellent apical osseous fill and resolution.  Obturation system: Sybron Endo Elements Free (warm vertical obturation)
