This is a re-restoration of a tooth situated in buccoversion to the arch featuring a diastema that was restored years earlier using a combination of both stratified esthetic and PINK composite. The tooth had had always had a gingival zenith that was more apical in position with a diastema. Over the years, the crowding continued to progress and the tooth (#9) was crowded out of the arch. With a resolute desire to not do orthodontics, the patient insisted on a macroreductive approach to “better align” the tooth.
Following removal of the old composite restoration and coronal recontouring, caries was noted on #10M, and subsequently removed and restored. The cervical pink composite was deemed to be stable as was placed by myself years earlier. A freehand approach was taken to relayer a composite restoration that aimed to re-establish both lingual and buccal harmony in the curve. The final shot was taken 1 week post-operatively showing acceptable esthetic integration.
