Large amalgam restoration featuring comminuted vertical fractures on the M and D marginal ridges, indeed a near-complete transverse stained hairline fracture noted in the floor of the preparation extending from the mesial. Interesting that there were no associated symptoms. The bonded resin will only be a core buildup en route to a bonded indirect onlay designed with a compression dome in mind.
